People Calling for Boycott of Chick-Fil-A Have Clearly Never Tasted Chick-Fil-A

There is a line that can be crossed by protesters where they go from being merely a nuisance to being a genuine threat to civil society and everything that is good and pure on God’s green earth. Rarely is that line more clear than in the calls of pro-gay-marriage activists to boycott Chick-Fil-A. Creative Minority Report notes recent incidents:

Actor Ed Helms from “The Office” and “The Hangover” tweeted yesterday that Chick-Fil-A “Lost a loyal fan” because of the company’s stance.

And luminaries such as Miley Cyrus, Lindsay Lohan and Kim Kardashian – have also called for a Chick-fil-A boycott.

So go eat at Chick-Fil-A. By eating their great sandwiches and chowing down their waffle fries and feel good about yourself that you’re supporting marriage. And you get the extra benefit of knowing you won’t run into Lindsey Lohan or Miley Cyrus while you’re there.

Activists of all kinds have a blind spot that keeps them from realizing that other people don’t care about their cause as much as they do. We humor them a lot because they’re usually underdogs raising a stink against the establishment, and in America we have a soft spot for stink-raising underdogs.

However, that spot is only so soft. When protesters threaten something that is precious to us, they’re apt to experience a little pushback. And oh, yes, Chick-Fil-A qualifies as precious.

Anyone who would pick a fight with Chick-Fil-A clearly has no idea of the kind of loyalty that’s engendered by that juicy, delicious fried chicken. If they want to try to pry people away from it, I say, good luck with that.

Update: Chick-Fil-A provides food to police working the Aurora theater shooting:

The notice went out over the police radio at 4:45am Mountain Time that the restaurant had opened its doors to police and emergency workers to get a meal and use the facilities. Some double checked to see if the the restaurant was offering free food and that was confirmed.
